What a Non-Christian Can Teach Us About Time

Randy Pausch Lecture: Time Management

The Lord Jesus said in Luke 16:8 "The master commended the dishonest manager for his shrewdness. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light."

If there's some truth to the saying "time is gold", then we can apply Christ's teaching on stewardship not only to money, but to time. Especially since unlike money, lost time cannot be regained/re-earned no matter how hard we work. If we all lived 1000 years before we eventually died, we could all save and invest enough money to become millionaires. The problem with all of us becoming millionaires is the shortage of time. Time is the most precious commodity we have from God and to use for God. Here's a lecture by Randy Pausch on time management. It's all the more focused since he was dying from incurable pancreatic cancer at the time. Some of his recommendations can by applied by Christians, while others obviously cannot. But it's unfortunately that more Christians don't know about and apply the insights Pausch shares in this lecture. Died July 25, 2008 (aged 47)
